DIBS restaurant is located in the Duxton precinct. They serve modern European cuisine and most of the foods are made for sharing. Besides that, they have a lot of good wines from well-established labels. The food they serve isn’t fussy or showy but it is comforting and tantalizing.
Set up by a group of local friends whose passion is evident given the personal front-of-house experience, the culinary heart of the casual bistro-style joint is Leong Khai Git, a chef who’s previously cut his teeth locally at Gaia Ristorante & Bar, and in the Asian-led restaurant perch at Quest in the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi. Their aim is to present inexpensive offcuts of meat in unexpectedly delicious ways.
Escargot ($18) granished with tomato confit, weizenbier (wheat beer) and salsify |
Beef Fondue ($14) is shoulder tender with gorgonzola veined italian blue cheese. |
A starter of meat butter ($15) is veal bone marrow laced with teriyaki sauce and bonito flakes for that extra umami |
Beef steak and radish ($34), a platter of beef short ribs is cooked sous-vide for 24 hours to accentuate its tender marbling |
Duck in a jar ($36) is foie gra and duck breast with mushroom, s spice and baguette |
A slab of pork cheek ($28) is dusted with a panko crust and served on a bed of pea and horseradish puree. |
Bacon and Apples ($14) is an alarming combination of apple pie with a scoop of buttermilk ice cream garnished with candied bacon! A good mix of hot and cold, sweet and salty. |
If you are looking for a place to chill out with your friends, a good catch-up, a small bite or a square meal, a place to start the night of a pit stop for the hijinks ahead, you shall head over the DIBS restaurant.
