Pregnancy is probably one of the most challenging times to be physically active – but also one of the most necessary, as you’re about to face one of the most physically and emotionally challenging times of your time. Pilates or yoga helps to release tension, build strength, and honors the unique challenges of this time. This pregnancy, I’ve embraced the transformation of my body, and of my yoga practice. It’s truly incredible how the human body evolves and what the human body can still do as it evolves!
In final trimester (37 weeks and counting), I have been doing aqua work out like aqua kickboxing and swimming. It helps to keep me cool, buoyant in water and still get the work out I crave. It also reduces pregnancy discomfort and helps me to sleep better. Regular exercise strengthens muscles, which helped my body cope better with the aches and pains of pregnancy. Doing stretches and yoga eases back pain, walking improves my circulation, and swimming can strengthen my abdominal muscles. So many benefits! Must I really go on?
