Christopher’s 5 months update + Freshly Picked Giveaway!

Wow! I seriously can’t believe that FIVE WHOLE MONTHS have literally flown by. I have spent nearly every waking moment with him since the day he was born. I find myself trying to hold onto every little moment…. each first, every cuddle and all of those adorable sleep smiles. I already miss the newborn stage. It went by WAY too quickly. If I had a time machine, I would go back and relive those first couple weeks again and again.

Christopher brings me so much joy. At least once a day I lean down, smell the top of his head, and think, Oh my gosh, I have a baby. I. Have. A. BABY! It’s still very surreal.

Over the past five months I’ve laughed, cried, yawned, and laughed some more – this child is seriously a comedian in the making. I know every parent thinks their child hung the moon and we’re no different. Every funny, cute, and silly face Christopher makes melts our hearts.

Don’t get me wrong, this has also been the most challenging five months of my entire life. It’s been tiring, stressful, and down right HARD (and did I mention tiring?) but the good has outweighed the difficult. With a face like this, how could I not feel like the luckiest lady in the world?

4 days old with those lips.

Sleeping:

He is already developing his little personality and he is such a sweet baby. I can’t believe how strong he is already. What used to be sweet little cuddles is turning into him trying to climb up and run away.

He started sleeping through the night a few weeks ago which was AMAZING! Early on he did sleep, but he just had his days and nights mixed up. His schedule is great. He typically goes to bed around 9 – 10pm and will sleep until around 6 or 7am. He has about 3 or so long periods of awake time and he is much more alert now.

Oh and he is a super quiet sleeper. I remembered farting so loud, it woke him up. It sounds amusing but it’s not when it happened cos he was bawling!

My alarm clock wears cute jammies and smiles at me when I wake up.

 Feeding:

He typically eats every 3-4 hours except while he is sleeping. He will wake up for a feed maybe once or twice a week but that’s it. I’m totally fine with that! I definitely feel “normal.” I could always use a boost of energy, but I’m finally out of the sleep deprived zombie stage. Woohoo!

We are still breastfeeding. We have supplemented a couple bottles here and there simply because my supply was a little low and she was hungry and I’m not going to let my baby starve. My Medela Swing Maxi is still working, thankfully. We have done a combination of breastfeeding with pumping so I can take occasional naps while my mother feeds him.

Christopher is a milk monster and I love it.

I’m so grateful to have my parents who jump at the chance to watch Christopher for a few hours when I want to catch a quick dinner out, or need to run a few errands solo. I didn’t grow up near any of my Grandparents, so I’m glad that C will get to know them from the start.

I find it comforting yet sad that everything we’re experiencing right now is temporary. It’s nice to know that someday in the future I won’t be waking up in the middle of the night for feedings, for instance, but sad knowing that in order to get there Christopher has to grow up. All his newborn clothes have been packed away, and I teared up folding them remembering how impossibly tiny he was to fit into them. It’s weird knowing that he will never, ever be that small again. Sigh…

We’ve paired up with Freshly Picked to give away a pair of their lovely moccasins (of your choice) – a perfect holiday gift for your little one!

Giveaway is between 28th Aug – 14th Sept 2017. Good luck!
