A Taste of the Balinese Sun and a Desert-born Dessert for the Skin

Janiqueel tastes the sun in Beautiful Bali and rejuvenates afterward with a Huxley routine.

The sun,–the bright sun, that brings back, not light alone, but new life, and hope, and freshness to man–burst upon the crowded city in clear and radiant glory. Through costly-colored glass and paper-mended window, through cathedral dome and rotten crevice, it shed its equal ray.

Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist

Faithful Janiqueel readers may have seen my recent post, “Bathing, Basking, Beering, and Belting in Bali” and envied this writer’s opportunity to bask as the sun “shed its equal ray” as Mr. Dickens pointed out. Yes, it shone and, yes, I enjoyed  a respite from “the crowded city in clear and radiant glory.” If one is not careful, though, that respite can be skin-spiteful. Sun, breeze and salt water can spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e for one’s delicate skin. Huxley can help.

The company builds its products around a series of routines: Cleansing; Deep Cleansing; Hydration; Antioxidant; Extra Moisture; Brightening; Spa; Sheet Mask; Sun; and BODY. Upon my return to the Garden city, I had a look at each but found the Body Routine most relevant to my post-paradise needs.

Here are the products I used:

Body Wash; Moroccan Gardner Similar in consistency to a bath gel, but with a scent that evokes the desert plants from which it is formulated, this body wash is like a gel, but more subtle, more patently effective and invigorating. It promises to cleanse dead cells and moisturize at the same time.

Body Oil, Moroccan Gardener – A lightweight body oil that leaves the skin soft and smooth, sensuously fragranced with Huxley’s refreshing signature scent. It nourishes the skin and reinforces the skin’s barrier. A refreshing finish without leaving the skin a greasy feel.

Body Lotion, Moroccan Gardener – Honestly, as the Body wash, the scent of this lotion is a little intoxicating. “Be lost in the scent of the refreshing Moroccan garden,” proclaims Huxley. The lotion is a milky formula that softened and moisturized my whole Bali-basked body. Did I mention the scent? Intoxicating.

Sun Cream – I used this throughout my stay and when I go outdoors in Singapore, as well. It’s SPF 50++ and, unlike most sunblocks, it provides non-greasy, minimalist protection and toning. Stay sun safe!

Even after a trip to paradise, it is always good to be home again in the warm arms of family and mates. Thanks to Huxley’s products, I am safely back with my supple skin glowing from the experience.
