Celebrate in style with a week’s worth of fun, activities, feasting and drinking!
This July, rum enthusiasts rejoice as Destination Beverage brings you the Rasa Fiesta Singapura (TRFS) Held Monday to Friday (10 – 14 July 2017) in collaboration with official venue partners, including Sugarhall, Vasco, Potato Head, Bread Street Kitchen, Lime House, as well as official rum partners, including but not limited to Abuelo, Appleton Estate, Don Papa, Saint James, and Sailor Jerry.
The celebration of the Caribbean and South American lifestyle and culture will culminate in a street festival on Jiak Chuan Road on Saturday, 15 July 2017, where revelers can partake in a day’s worth of entertainment, feasting, and drinking.
“With Rasa Fiesta Singapura, Destination Beverage aims to celebrate the rich and diverse aspects of the Caribbean and South American cultures. Rum is one of the key pillars of these cultures. The produce made from sugar cane demonstrates that it can be approachable, like it is in popular cocktails such as daiquiri, mojito, pina colada and mai tai. It is also complex – some rums can be aged as long as the best whiskies,’ says Mr. Ralph Vetea Lee, from Destination Beverage. “We hope that The Rasa Fiesta Singapura will open up the magical world of rum, with its stories and long heritage, to everyone, from those who are just embarking on their exploration of spirits, to rum enthusiasts, who would like to learn more about its origins and tasting processes,” Mr. Lee adds.
From Monday to Friday, all decked out in their distinctive décor from Panama to Jamaica, from Martinique to Caribbean, each bar will offer specially crafted cocktails to best depict and honor the rum brand that is housed within their premises. Prices of the cocktails range from SGD15 to SGD25.
Guests are welcome to visit each stop on the RFS Map and discover each culture via a themed atmosphere. For every special cocktail purchased, each official venue partner will provide a stamp on the RFS Map. Once the map is completed with five stamps, guests can redeem prizes including coupons and tiki mugs at the Street Festival on Saturday. While following the trail of the map, put your creativity to the test by taking original and unique photos of the venues, drinks or the people! Post your photo with the official hashtag #rasafiesta2017, and stand to win prizes too.
On Saturday, from 12.00pm to 10.30pm, watch as Jiak Chuan Road is transformed into a bustling and colorful Tiki Festival filled with music, bright lights and dance parties. Official partners in the area, Lime House and Phat Cat Laundry will dish out tropical concoctions in roadside booths. With artisanal booths and craft stalls decorated in a Carribean set-up, expect delicious street food by establishments such as Senor Taco, salsa performances, tattoo artists, and workshops by brand ambassadors, and for the rum aficionados, private tastings and sales of rare rums will be held on the second floor of Lime House. Prices of the dishes range from SGD15 nett, while cocktails are priced from SGD10 onwards. All purchases must be made via coupons, and coupons are available at the Destination Beverage booth.
“Similar festivals such as East Imperial Gin Jubilee, Whiskey Weekend, Singapore Cocktail Week have seen great reception. People in the city are adventurous about the lifestyle surrounding great spirits,” Mr. Lee elaborates. “Working with experienced and recognized partners, we are confident of a great celebration throughout the week,” he concludes.
Hailing from Polynesia, the birthplace of Tiki, an emblem of the rum movement, Mr. Lee’s passion for the spirit runs deep. Since the inception of Destination Beverage, its founders have aimed to be specialized in a selection of spirits, so as to remain focused on their offerings. It has since built up an impressive portfolio containing more than 70 types of rum.
