INTO the WOODS invites you to slow down and breathe in nature.
Best to take the moment present
As a present for the moment.
― Stephen Sondheim, “Into the Woods”
Into the Woods provides a peaceful retreat for those seeking a place to heal and unwind. Surrounded by the healing power of nature, guests can immerse themselves in a tranquil setting perfect for recovery and relaxation. This is an ideal spot, whether after a setback or simply to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Arraigned along a gentle curve of beach on Lazarus Island, the canvas tents are like peaceful sentinels beckoning in the adventurous glampers. My young companion, C, took a high-speed tour of the tents and the beach. Just as I was, he was charmed by the unique setting and by the concept of glamping. We were so close to home in Singapore, yet so far away in our minds. We were on an adventure!

Like camping, glamping sets you out in nature with just a cover of water-shedding canvas between you and the natural world. Into the Woods is a fantastic destination for families. The family tents have all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Upon entering our tent, we spied a special welcome kit typifying the slow-down vibe of the place. For journaling, there is a seed paper journal with a selection of coloured inks from natural dyes and a growable pencil (who knew?). Reflection is being encouraged – taking time to enjoy the experience, then taking extra time to reflect on what you’ve done, thought about, or experienced. It’s a great chance to connect with those you are with and a precious time to connect with yourself.

For families, even a tiny family like ours, Into the Woods offers a beach adventure unlike any you may have had before. Into the Woods is also a fantastic destination for families. The family tents have all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Activities for children and adults include picnics, beach outings, and bike rentals. It’s an excellent way to bond with loved ones while enjoying the outdoors. Part of the minimalist beach venture is the well-appointed com, una. Toilet blocks are no more than a five-minute walk from your room. Oops, make that tent not room. A key in your room hangs next to a flashlight. Without jarring electric lights, the walk is pleasant, especially for star-gazers who, far from the city lights, will be awed by the celestial light show right outside your canvas home. Inside the communal block, your key opens one of fur separate toilet rooms. Your ablutions are private for you and your family members. Shampoos and other toiletries are provided.

Bringing the food you need for the stay is part of the bargain. The rooms have a small cookware set and a mini-fridge for cooking meals. We enjoyed choosing our food in advance, and preparing our meals was a treat. Equipped with plates, cutlery, bowls, and paper towels, all you need to bring is the food itself. Alternatively, you can order “feast” bundles when you book the tent. At present, a Korean Feast for Two and a Kid’s Favorite are hearty choices for a meal in the tent or outside on the beach. A charming picnic wagon in each tent will help you to wheel the meals or treats outside. A short walk to the other side of the island is the place to go if you want to enjoy the sunset.

Now, this is camping/glamping at its best! Another alternative is a convenience store on the island open Fridays to Sundays from 10 am-6 pm. There are no other food options on the island. The store also offers sodas and alcoholic drinks. Remember that opening times are limited, so plan with family members and enjoy the experience.
Various mindful activities promote peace and well-being while enjoying nature’s healing. Activities like meditation, yoga, and beach clean-ups allow visitors to engage with nature and find inner calm. The specially curated welcome kits and community library add a thoughtful touch to the overall experience. The large communal tent has books, games, and painting supplies that guests can use in the tent or take back to their canvas home away from home.

Into the Woods’s unique blend of luxury and the raw natural beauty of nature sets it apart. The carefully designed spaces and activities encourage guests to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the world around them. Into the Woods is more than just a getaway; it’s an invitation to live more mindfully, embrace nature’s beauty, and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones. Whether recovering from an ailment or looking to create lasting memories with your family, this serene escape offers a unique and enriching experience. Time spent at Into the Woods is grand fun for singles, couples, or families.
