Healthy skin is not just limited to skincare routines, products, serums or treatments that celebrities swear by. A happy, healthy skin shows what you feed your body.

Thus, it’s important that you take care of your skin with nutrient-dense foods. These nutrients in food and beverages protect your skin cells from harmful sun rays, keeping it smooth, supple, and firm- which are all signs of healthy skin.

On the other hand, indulging in processed and baked goods, soda etc can cause inflammation in your body leading to saggy skin, redness, and acne. Overindulging in unhealthy foods causes the formation of free radicals which show up on your face as early signs of aging.

There’s probably nothing more delicious than a rich dark chocolate box, that can brighten your day and even your skin!.

The effects of chocolate on your skin are phenomenal. Studies show that consuming chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) moisturizes your skin, protects from sun damage and increases blood flow that gives your skin more shine. It is a rich source of manganese that helps in better nutrient absorption and diminishes wrinkles.

Dark chocolate is also rich in vitamins A, B1, C, D and E which nourish skin texture and thickness of your skin. The antioxidant properties in dark chocolate slow down the early signs of aging, keeping your skin plump and youthful.

2. Green Vegetables

Green leafy vegetables top list of the healthy foods, and are very beneficial for your skin. These green veggies are rich in vitamins A, B, E and minerals like iron, folate, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Green tea has a powerful antioxidant called EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) that fights skin cancer by protecting against sun damage. This also means that it is an effective anti-aging ingredient which slows down the signs of aging.

It has a high content of polyphenols called catechins that have anti-inflammatory properties that give all the more reason to use green tea as a face mask. It’s an extremely hydrating face mask, kills systemic bacterial inflammation and gives you a smoother and toned skin.

Green tea also has caffeine and tannins that help shrink blood vessels around the eyes, thus treating your puffy eyes and dark circles.
