Top 6 things to do at Marina Bay Sands

After the long, dreary COVID years, it is safe to say that THE WORLD IS OPENING UP AGAIN! YAY! You can meet with a group of ten, you can enjoy time with a few friends, or you can give yourself some well-deserved “me time” in settings that have been off-limits for too long. Why not hop in your car, take a Grab, MRT, or bus and head to Marina Bay Sands? There are a ton of activities to enjoy there. Here’s a taste of a few:

1. The ArtScience Museum

It’s a thrill just to visit the iconic architectural wonder on the Bay. For the next few months, though, there are some very special exhibitions happening. “Future World Where Art Meets Science” is an interactive digital installation. “Radical Curiosity” explores the life and work of Buckminster Fuller who explored art, science, architecture and design. “Hope from Chaos” is particularly timely as it explores the science and ramifications of the COVID pandemic.

2. Digital Light Canvas

Step (literally) into the ‘canvas’ where light and wound make a colourful new world. Paint calligraphy with your feet, watch schools of fish swim by and see flowers blossom in your footsteps. It’s all magic and it’s all part of a multi-sensory experience.

3. SkyPark Observation Deck

57 levels above the Lion City the Marina Bay Sands building is a signature sight on the city skyline. From up here, you can scan the ships in the bay in one direction and the green city in the other are a thrill. Have a birdseye view of the Gardens in Bay which you may want to visit once you arrive back on earth. Way up here in the stratosphere, you’ll find drinks and eats, too.

4. Sampan Rides

Anyone will love this, but especially the youngsters. Floating along at Shoppes Level in a boat worthy of Venetian canals. You’ll have to pinch yourself (or have a friend do so) to cope with the cognitive dissonance. Window shop the high-end stores as you float along in your personal sampan. Pick out a spot for a meal or a drink.

5. Gardens by the Bay

When you leave Marina Bay Sands itself, you may want a leisurely stroll among the wildly distinctive “trees” in the vast “forest”. Here you’ll find the FLOWER DOME and the. CLOUD FOREST. One is the world’s largest glass greenhouse. The other houses the largest indoor waterfall on earth. Spectacular and educational each offer unforgettable experiences.

6. Restaurants and Bars

Feeling peckish or in need of a refreshing drink after your explorations? With 50+ venues, you need not go hungry or thirsty. From Michelin starred fine dining to traditional Singapore street food, you’ll find something to eat – tryst me! The last time my friends and I were at MBS, we topped into the delightfully presented, French Bistro and Oyster Bar. “Superbe!” we agreed as we tipped our imaginary chapeaus.

Greet the new “Living with COVID” lifestyle with a visit to Marina Bay Sands. Take a deep breath and welcome the change!
